The antidote to the Psychiatric Drug Crisis is the Wisdom of Psychotherapy
I not only fully agree with Gary Greenberg, in his article, “The Psychiatric Drug Crisis”, The New Yorker, September, 2013, but we need to take this a step forward. The very idea that a drug can cure what ails us, that pharmaceuticals address the agency of human suffering is absurd. Pharmaceutical psychiatry is a house of cards built on bad science and financial corruption. Psychiatry has lost its way and our patients are not being properly treated. Psychotherapy, which has become a lost art (and science), is the proper treatment to address the symptoms and sufferings of our patients. We need to turn to the wisdom, the neuroscience, the art, and the science of psychotherapy.
